Just bought a Dual Xeon PSU, but no ATX PLUG! Converter?

Hey all,

I feel like an Idiot because I just bought a Fortron FSP550 to go on my DFI NF4 Ultra-D and didn't notice that it had no 4 pin ATX connector. Does anyone know if there is an adapter to use one of these strange 8 pin plugs or 6 pin plugs? I have no idea what they are! Or, would a 4 pin molex to 4 pin atx plug work?

The 4 pin ATX 12V connector is an industry standard plug used on both AMD and Intel boards.

Here is a 4 pin molex to 4 pin ATX 12V adapter.

You may be able to use just 4 pins of the 8-pin connector assuming all wires are yellow and black - all you'll need is a bit of clearance of one side or the other or both of your 4-pin socket. As it looks like there isn't sufficient clearance from the pic on newegg, perhaps you could trim two pins off each side of the 8 pin connector and tie the extra wires back or use a 4-pin extension (readily available- Linkage for server and other weird sized cases).

Dang, I just noticed that that mobo doesn't have any serial or parallel ports! What's the world coming to ( how would I hook up my external serial modem )???

Here, have a  !

OK, I got the adapter at frys. But the computer turns on for a split second, then back off. Same thing it did without the 4 pin plugged in. This is very strange 🙁

Maybe it thinks it's overheating or you tried to start it once without a cpu fan connected to the "CPU FAN" header. Or the speed sensor of your CPU fan isn't working or the rpm of your fan is too low. In most of those cases it will require you to clear the CMOS before attempting a reboot.

I swapped back in my old psu and everything works fine. I put in the new fortron and it doesn't boot. This is retarded. i called fortron and they hung up on me twice and kept saying they would email me instructions on how to test a psu. I know what they are doing....just trying to buy time until they close in 56 minutes. This company is a joke. I hate companies that can't respect their customers enough to talk to them.
