I've been scoping out the Dell Outlet for a couple days and finally pulled the trigger:

Dimension 8400 Desktop: Pentium 4 Processor 540 with HT Technology (3.20GHz, 800 FSB, 1MB)
Microsoft Windows XP Professional
512 MB DDR SDRAM, 400 MHz (2 DIMM)
400 GB EIDE SATA RAID Hard Drive (7200 RPM)
128MB PCI Express ATI Radeon X300 SE
56Kbps Data/Fax Modem
16X DVD ROM Drive
16x DVD +/- RW w/dbl layer write capability

$624 shipped.

How did I do? I especially like the HD.

That looks pretty good to me for the price. What was "refurbed", by the way if you know?

Seems like a very good deal, just hope it works!

For a price point, I bought a new 8400 a few months ago for around $2200 delivered with warranty. Similar to yours but 3.6 GHz processor, 2 GB DDR RAM @ 533 MHz, only 250 Gb SATA drive (no RAID) and 256 MB GeForce 6800 GTo.

So yeah good deal, I feel silly, but I suppose you pay for the top model!

Ordering more ram tonight. They gave me a 3.4 instead of the 3.2.. nice little bonus!

The also included a copy of WinXP Media Center Edition in the box with WinXP Pro also.

I scored a couple with X800 SE for under $550. Only 160GB HD though...

man, what a bummer for me:(. I just built my new rig a couple weeks ago for ~$2800. I probably should've just gotten a XPS Gen 4, but, oh well, it was fun putting it all together and firing it up the first time.
