how so? Not many laptops at 850 have 80 gigs and 512 mb, thats usually a $1200+ computer, at least for well known companies it is..

Well... You can always upgrade to 512 from 256 for around 25 bucks. 80 gig HD is soso, but that doesn't warrent the extra $$$ you spent. True, its a good deal, but there have been better deals around :(.

yea i guess, im very happy with what i got, 80 gigs in a laptop, i dont see much, and the memory is no big deal, ill just upgrade that. Now find me a computer that is 850 or less that is a "better" deal then this please.

There have been better deals in the past, though not around this week. It varies. I got my V2000Z (almost like your model) with 12 cell battery 1.6GHZ sempron 40 gig HD DVD/CD 256MB of ram for 450 bucks AR/Shipped/Taxed about a month ago.

Now if I had upgraded to DVD RW in the configuration, and purchased another 512 MB stick of ram, the total would have been around 570-580 bucks. Ya, if you really want to upgrade the turion for 50 bucks, although I really don't see a point as the performance differece won't matter very much at all, you cold. And ya I could sell the 40 gig HD for around 30 bucks and buy a 80gig one for 100. All in all it would turn out to be around 700 bucks AR/Shipped/Taxed if I did the upgrades to match your comp.

Summary:
Bought 450 buck laptop. Could have done a turion upgrade for 50 bucks at the configuration.
DVD burner-80 bucks

80 Gig HD- 105 bucks
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16822153013
512 MB stick- 45 bucks
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16820141207

Total cost? 735. I'm pretty sure I can get 40 bucks OFF the HD and dvd/CD drive off of FS/FT forums. So total cost should be around 700 bucks after coupons/rebates/tax/shipping to "match" your configuration.

dude that means i have to put that all together on some exsisting laptop, which i dont have and have to make sure its compatible with my computer, thats too much, would take a lot longer. Talking an already built computer, this is a pretty good deal.

Upgrading the ram/DVD burner/HD/ are not trivial and take about 20 minutes. Yes all the parts I listed are compatible.

well that good for you, i wouldnt personally want to do all that, and im not sure id really trust ANY parts in a 450 dollar computer, but im sure there are ways to really save if u want to do all that, but im really not looking to do all that, and i would probably have to get help from someone (more $$$) to get them to put the memory in and HD in, etc.

Its almost the same computer you bought(which I think is a rebranded DV1000), and if you took that configuration to the HP website, it would be around 700 bucks shipped. You asked if there were better deals and I told you about it.

Well I had to fight for it. I had to argue for 30 mins with the manager to let me use the staples 30 dollar off 100 coupon for the HP customization notebook(you aren't supposed to), I had to wait 10 mins to take the order to a female worker so she would forget to charge shipping, and I had to write all those MIRs. The laptop wasn't even supposed to be for me, but my cousin suddenly decided not to take it, so I just took it :)

yea i take my chances on the service plans, yea at some point i prob. will move to a gig. I dont like the mouse clicker part, its so small, thats one thing i miss about my dell. That is why i MIGHT get a portable mouse like u did mrfrog840.

I just use the Touchpad. Easy to rightclick and leftclick. TO rightclick, I set the top right corner to rightclick on a tap. and to leftclick, its set default at that :). I use the touchpad for everything even when its plugged in at home :)

I bought a Dell 3 year warranty for my laptop, but will never buy one from Circuit City or Best Buy.
