Just bought a car, need help on freight charges

I just bought a car from Houston, TX and now i'm considering all options to bring the car back to St. Louis, Missouri which is about 950 miles away.
I could drive it for ~13 hrs or pay for freight. What is the best company out there? The car is an Audi A4.
By the way ... if i drive the car, it will not have license plate so I'm not really sure about the safety/cops/theft issue I might encounter.
helps pleasee 🙁

Yeah for sure. I know you can get the car home safely if you drive, you just need the right answers 🙂

well still pretty good not a junkie used car! I would pick Audi over BMW anytime very realiable long lasting and fuel saver compare to BMW

if you dont mind me asking how much is that puppy from auction or dealer?

friend of mine buys expensive cars from houston, he tells me its much cheaper he brings two loaded trucks back to NY from houston

i paid $17,500, the blue book value on that car is $22,460 while the NADA value is $21,500. I probably, ask the dealer to cut me some more money when i go pick the car up, if it's possible.
I only have two days off in a week, my gf can drive but not very good driver yet, dilemma, dilemma.

$17500 is a lot of money, save yourself a lot of hassle get airline tickets at biddingfortravel and arrange freight

I got a sweet deal on a used '99 300M this past summer and it was from Houston. I live in NY. I researched the freight and it was gonna cost me close to 1G to ship it and I wouldnt have it for close to 3 weeks!
I thought about it for about 3 seconds and then bought some airline tickets! Next stop HOUSTON BABY!
1730 miles and 36 hours later, me, my fiance and my new baby were back home in NY.

Can you say roadtrip? It was on hell of a weekend and I dont think I would do it again. We flew out Fri night, picked up car Sat morn and hit the road hard! Made it to NY Sun night at 1am. And I was up for work on Mon morn 😉

Aside from an accidental detour somewhere in Tennessee the ride was smooth, until of course you hit NY!:frown: Even and 1am Sun night (Mon morn techincally) traffic in NY SUCKS!

If I can make it to NY from Houston in 36 hrs, you can St. Louis no problem! Go for it, you only live once!
😀

If freight is gonna cost you $800 or so and you can score plane tickets for easily under $200 one way (probably much lower), and don't want to wait I'd pick it up. 13 hours isn't great, but not too bad if you have a LOT of music. You're looking at plane tickets and $60 in gas. I'd go that route.

Nice price, though a warning to people buying vehicles from Houston. Just make sure the title is clean and check the entire vehicle background. A lot of vehicles from the Allison flood has been making it's way back into the market. Just something to think about.

Anyway, i suggest you just come down to Houston and drive the vehicle back up there. You'll be getting temp dealer plates anyway so you'll be fine during the trip. Not to mention since you just bought the car you will have all the necessary paperwork to prove it's yours. 🙂

I'm getting ready to purchase a truck that is in Cleveland Ohio and I live just east of St. Louis.

My plans are either to fly there and drive it home or possibly get there by bus.

If you are buying it from a dealer, he will provide all the paperwork you would need to drive it home. Make sure you get insurance BEFORE you leave to go get it.

I've driven from St. Louis to Houston before in one day. It is a long haul! Takes about 15 hours includeing stops for food and gas.

Ideally, fly out there and then drive untill you get tired. Spend $40 for a motel and get a good night's rest and then go on.

Browse Ebay Motors. They have links for transportation by truck if that is better for you, but it's going to be around $600 I'm thinkin.

Just drive it. From TX to St. Louis is not that far.. Last time I inherit a Mercedes and I drove from California to Iowa which is 2K mile. And it was a fun roadtrip but I'll never do it again though.😉

My friend bought a 300ZX all the way in the East coast from LA... he didn't know how to drive stick yet... but by the time he got back here... he did already. 😀
