I can't get it to stay lit. Is it because I ain't using Bernzo butane fuel maybe? Anyone know anything about these? I put the lighter to the end and there is a flame but as soon as I remove it the flame goes away.

Uh, if there's no tip on the thing, you damn well better not try to solder with it.

It came with tips for soldering. I looks like a handy tool if the thing would just stay lit. It torches,solders and came with a tip to convert into a heat gun.

You can turn the end to change the air/fuel mixture. You have it too rich probably.

I don't have it to rich the factory might though :D. It states in the manual to use THE sharp pin then put it in the inner gear hole to move it to the right/left. Do you have any idea what it means by use THE sharp pin? Call me dumb but I tried looking in the packaging for a sharp pin.

:confused::confused:

Soldering torches don't rely on a flame AFAIK. There's a platinum catalyst inside that releases heat from the fuel gas without a visible flame.

I have a Weller Pyropen that uses a flame with an impingement chamber that conducts resulting heat to a conventional soldering tip.

Others are catalytic so they have no open flames. (but still have areas of incandescence exposed to the surrounding atmosphere so use in hazardous environments is a definite no-no.)

I give up on it. I will call them tomorrow and if that doesn't work I'll return it. The instructions does state to use Bernzomatic butane only but thats likely a rip. Besides Wal-Mart didn't carry any.

The local Ace Hardware has them for $11. If it's anything like my Radioshack butane torch/soldering iron, blue flame should form at the holes, and then the mesh inside will turn red hot. It doesn't have a flame when being used. Did you try igniting all the holes?
