Any one ever purchase anything from Newegg that came with a bonus gift or free item and get screwed on it? I called their customer service and the lady I talked to was not a gifted person. We bought a EPSON R1800 which had a free PNY 1 Gb USB Flash drive. The offer was good until 10/31/05, we ordered on 10/29/2005 during their Saturday store hours. The lady tried to tell me the offer didn't start until 11/01. Nice! I asked her to show me where on their web site did it have this offer for the printerand bonus flash drive. She could not of course. She came back on the line a minute later and said "sorry but there is nothing I can do!" I asked for a manager. A guy got on the line and said he never heard of this offer and couldn't do anything. For once I happened to be lucky and actually had printed the web page with the offer. I told the manager and he stumbled to try and think of something to say. Of course he still did not want to honor my order so he said I will have to fax him a copy of the page before they can do anything. What a bunch of @ssholes! I have spent a couple thousand at Newegg in the past year or so! I faxed the page to the manager, we'll see what happens. I know its not a huge deal or anything but one of the reasons I bought it from Newegg was because of the free flash drive,(wife needs one for school) otherwise I would have bought it from JR.com, they had it a little cheaper. Anyway just wanted to rant a little. Thanks!

Good for you! Don't let them screw you out of what you paid for. I hope you give them a lot of trouble; hopefully they will be nice and give you a freebie or something for al lthe headache.

Complain on resellerratings...newegg will get you the flash drive and a couple of hookers to change it to a positive review.

usually for free items, you have to manually add it to your cart yourself for the discount to appear at checkout. otherwise they'd just assume that you don't want it and won't ship you one.

so maybe that's why.

My wife actually printed out the web page for me to look at, the printer is for her. I looked on the check out page and did not see anywhere to add the drive. I even had the wife take a look just to make sure that I wasn't blind! This surprises me as Newegg has always been pretty good.

samething here with the free harddrive

when you add it to cart, it doesn't show you the option for the harddrive, so you have to manually add the 80gb harddrive on the right hand side of the cpu product page, then the discount appears.

this is weird, newegg used to show you the combo page for adding special combos.

Max, looking at your link, I still do not see where it can be added? I even had a co-worker take a look.

mmm...it was under the also purchased section, but not anymore.

anyway just add western digital 80gb internal ata150 harddrive to cart and the discount will show.

QFT.

They will likely refund the cost of something, and give you $25 off anything.

That is retarded. How the hell are you supposed to know which hard drive it is.

Interesting. Gotta love how they make it a task to get the add on item. Good strategy though, how many people would know to go through all these hoops to get their item. Thanks all!

At least you weren't like another guy on here that brought a new computer from Best Buys and got pieces of wood instead.
