Been car shopping for past few weeks, was looking at a variety of compact SUVs - got offered a few great deals along the way.

In the end I ended up going for a 2007 Subaru Outback wagon....just so much more fun to drive.

Had my eye on one for a while since they restyled them, they dropped the 07 base model around $1500 from last year brining it closer to my price range.
Owned a Forester in the past, really love that AWD for upstate NY winters.

Sold at invoice price, minus a $750 rebate.

Picking it up tomorrow

They cut a few things from 06 to drop the price including alloy wheels and power driver's seat, but I can live without those

No standard alloy's? I didn't know you could buy a Subaru today without alloy's...

Power seat doesn't matter to me either. It just always goes all the way back (6' 4"). The only car I've not had to do that in was my Dad's 06 Avalanche, surprise.

Damn, my dad just paid 16.9k for an 05 with like 22k miles. It was a 2.5i as well only difference was it had an Auto tranny.

Nice buy ;)
My father in law is interested in the wagon also. Can you share with us the review sites you used (if any) that made you choose this mdl? Any other info you have on the car would be great.

Is it true that all Subaru Outbacks are Awd?

Thanks.

Every Subaru is AWD

The review sites I used were just Edmunds and consumer reports (they are recommended)...plus I they just have an awesome reputation for reliability and longevity.

They have excellent crash test ratings, they are very reasonable on gas and come with a lot of standard equipment that other comaparable vehicles charge extra for.

But testing it was the clincher, the dealer gave it to me for a 24 hour test drive.
Nice power, steering is very responsive, sits low, but has higher ground clearance than most SUVs, and the thing corners like its on rails.

Congrats. That's one of the few new cars I would consider.

Not all Subies are AWD. You can still get FWD models. It's just that's their big selling point so none ever seem to make it to the lots. ;)
