What bluetooth equipped cell phones do you recommend?

Don't know, I've still got a cheap old Motorala V120T, that certainly is not bluetooth enabled. There are a bunch of posts about which phones are good at http://www.acura-tl.com

Thanks for the link.

What interest rate did you get?

I had a check in hand from that Captial One Auto finance for 48mo at 3.99%, the finance guy at the dealership offered my 3.49 though, so I took it. (Although I put down about $15K and my cedit score is around 800 so I'm sure that helped a little).

Bet that 3.49% was more like 5-6%.

Huh? No, it's 3.49. Trust me, I signed the papers. The finance guy actually offered me 2.9, but I would have had to buy GAP insurance which would have negated the APR savings. So I just went with the 3.49%

Gap insurance with 15k down? I don't understand that. Anyway, 2.9 to 3.49 is a very minor difference.

Congrats!

Yeah, I didn't either. I think it was just a scam. In order to get the 2.9, you HAD to pay like $300 for the GAP insurance. Or it could be that the guy was pissed cuz I wouldn't pony up the $250 he wanted to charge me the "VIN etching", so he was trying to make it up somewhere else? Who knows. Either way I got a great deal - $33,700 plus tax.

Also, the dealer offered my $5750 for my trade (a 2000 Monte Carlo w/48000 miles). Took it to Carmax and sold it for $7500.

What is GAP insurance?

I know of "loan gap" insurance that an insurance agent sells but what is "GAP insurance" that a car dealer would sell?

same thing. car dealers will sell you anything. of course, with 45% down there should never be a gap

I'm thinking of getting one myself, as I'm near the end of my lease. I want to take the G35 for a spin first though. Did you compare the two?

Gap insurance is if you crash the car within some time period (forget how long), you usually wouldn't be compensated for the new price of the car. Gap insurance covers the difference between the current price and the buy price.

I'll chime in before there's any nonsense spewn back and forth. But the G35 and TL are great cars...you really should check both out.

I've checked out the TL already. I have a 2002 TL Type S now, and jumped in the new TL while my car was being serviced. I really like it, but I hear nothing but good things about the G35, so I want to be sure.

Larry Widmer on how to break in an engine:

I recommend going 200 miles attempting to keep the engine under 3500. No luggig in upper gears. Every 20 miles "flash" the engine to perhaps 4K briefly. Next 200, 4K is the upper limit, flash the engine to 4500 every now and then in first or second gears. Next 200 miles 4500, with occasional lower gear flashes to 5000. Next 200, 5500 is the upper limit, 6000 is acceptable for brief flashes. Next 200, 6000, with occasional flashes to 6500.
It's now time to change the oil and filter and get it on. I do not recommend that steady state driving (highway) at one rpm for any length of time during break-in.

That's what bothers me so much. Is there appears to be so many opinions on how to break in a motor. I'm just trying not to load mine too much but at the same time try to run thru the rpm range.

I hear to break TL's in, you gotta keep it under 4K RPM until you replace your first tranny, which is about 1K miles :D

So far, so good. I'm around 1900 miles and have had ZERO problems. I just got a S/E T616 Bluetooth cellphone the other day and paired it up with the TL's HandsFreeLink. Works great!

BTW - No tranny problems on the 04's ;)
