It is a 1st person survival horror game from 2015 where all kinds of crerpy things happen while being at the bottom of the sea.
Looks promising. ^_^

you're about 2 years and some change late but yes, it's a great little psychological horror title from the makers of amnesia

Good to know that it is good. I never heard of it before. I am catching up and traversing the steam store for games i would like to play.
I have created a small list of games i like that should keep me happy to at least may 2018.
It is interesting to know that the HPL 3 engine and tools used for soma were developed in house.
That is quite a feature to do. Creating a modern cross platform engine.
The game is for sale for less than 6 euros at the moment.

I hated the game. It's just a walking simulator with absolutely no gameplay mechanics.

Really enjoyed it. Starts a little slow, but picks up quite nicely :)

The game was always billed and was thoroughly reviewed as a "walking simulator" type of game. I can't figure out why people who hate that type of game would buy it and then complain about it being a walking simulator.

It's not for everyone and yes, if you're not the stealth type or can't deal with not being able to fight your enemies then I would pass on it. It's certainly not a walking simulator though, as there are objectives, things you can miss, choices to be made and some pretty eerie situations. It was a nice break from the run and gun 3 hour campaign shooter, for me at least.

Heck, that server room in Theta still gives me the chills.

Haw ! The first time i started the game, i was thinking : Damned, the image is distorted, must be either a gpu driver or a game issue, here we go again figuring things out and trying to solve it.
But as it turns out, the loading screen is like that. There is nothing wrong with the game and runs teflonly smooth.
:D

I loved it. Yea, the main point of the game is to explore and avoid...so I can see how it isn't everyones thing...but it nails the atmosphere and sense of dread.

I wish I could play this game in VR. I think exploring the ocean floor, with that big ass thing chasing you would be intense!

I can imagine that in VR it would be very scary. I am now at the power plant , unfortunately i lost once. But what an ambiance. I was really on edge. That thing chased me up the stairs where there are those pipes venting hot steam.
Normally i just shoot my way through and now i have to solve puzzles and sneak my way through the game. I like it.
Since there are so few keys to bind, i do not mind that i cannot assign a function to the middle mouse button.

Well, i finished the game (on normal) and i loved it. Had quite a lot of scary moments and everything looked great.
It is very different when there is no run and gun option. WIthout anything to defend myself i felled a lot more being on my toes.
Good story too.

I had a driver option enabled to set anti alaising level to 8xEQ.
Everything at max at 1920x1080 and would run smoothly at 60Hz with vsync on.
