I has going to run it from my computer to my TV.
Dude up at work said there could be signal degradation because of the cable length.
He said I may need a booster.
I think he is wrong, do any of you have experience with this?

Also, how is the video out on a Radeon 8500 if you have one?

Thanks a bunch!

Never tried it myself but I have a friend that has S-video running out of an old ATI All-In-Wonder running about 20 feet and he says the picture is fine.

I did a TV Out from my ATI All In Wonder to a 27" TV, with a 15' S-Video cable. I didn't see any problems, but I'm not a videophile. I can notice the difference between DVD and VHS of course, but not really between RCA and S-Video. :p

You shouldn't notice any signal loss until you get past 25'. Even then it would be very, very minor.

quality of the cable has effects on DVD players and TVs. the one included in the DVD player i had was crap. had to upgrade. as for s-vid off a computer, i have not had any problems at 20 ft.

Well dude, that sucks.
I was planning on just using my 4.1 speakers for sound on the computer. The satellite speakers have long wire on them so I can postion them to where it will sound decent.
I would look into some quality cables if you are getting distortion in the sound. That is not very far for the sound signal to travel, so you shouldn't be seeing sound loss.

They had a 25 ft. for $25 dollars, cheap brand.
I bought the 12ft. quality (

) cables at Best Buy. They were $25, I didn't want 25ft worth of cable anyway.

I'm using a 12-foot cable from a Radeon 8500, and I see no loss of quality from it.
