So I just bought myself a Triple Black 2005 Acura TL w/ Nav and ELS Surround.

The car is in mint and had 39K Miles :)

Got it for $26K and it has a 5 year /100k extended warrenty

Question. Is there a way to install an IPOD into the car?

If you're an audiophile of any degree, you'll want a direct connection.

FM and Tape adapters sound like complete ass to me.

Edit: OP, go to crutchfield.com, enter your car info, and see what they have available.

I agree with you shocksyde.

The TL has a nice ELS surround system in it and I don't think a modulator would do it any justice. I would love to get a direct connection.

I'd also check up with some Acura forums. I frequent Nissan forums for my car and found the best ipod solution by asking people there (or just searching through their threads).

So is Triple Black the name of the black they use on those cars or do they make a TL convertible?

The color is either Triple Black or its because the the paint, seats and interior are all black.

My brother has had two TLs, the older Type S, and the new one as well, he chose anthracite for his new color, black was the Type S. Really nice cars! Handle great, plenty of power, very quiet. Only thing that I found odd was the interior seems smaller in the new one. Feels more like a BMW and less like an Acura.

Except from the outside it looks more like an oversized Honda.

There are a bunch of different iPod connectors for the TL. You'll have to do some research to find the best match for you though. I think acurazine.com had a sticky in the forums about iPods. Especially with the nav system you're going to have a hard time getting one that will do on screen track information. And there are various limitations on some of them with integrating the steering wheel cd controls to navigate through folders. Some of them have a 99 track limitation because they are integrating with the DVD audio track navigation. There were 3 or 4 pretty good options though, requiring various levels of installation difficulty.

I would echo the previous comment about acurazine and also, as previously mentioned, recommend against the Acura ipod adapter. Many people were extremely disappointed when it was released.

my friend has the one made by USA-SPEC, i think the model number is PA-11. you have to unplug the xm connector and plug this into the back of your head unit. you can get to it pretty easily if you have a friend with small hands. took us about an hour to install it. if you want to keep the xm, you need to buy a y-cable as well. the sound quality is great, and the steering wheel controls all work. it doesn't display track info on the screen though.

edit: crutchfield link
it has a 2nd aux input as well.
