I just bought a new Samsung 172w (widscreen) LCD...and I'm wondering about the actual size. Its rated as a 17" wide 15:9 monitor. Does this mean that it has shorter vertical dimensions than the standard 172T LCD? Will it look "small"?? Has anyone seen one or used one?

8 3/4"??? Damn, that's small! That's about the viewable height of my 14.1" notebook display!! :frown:

It'll stretch or not depending on the monitor setting. I just modify the game if possible and run at 1280x768. Otherwise there's an menu option for image size. Normal will leave
black bars at non native resolution or full screen which stretches the image. Leaving you with chubby characters. This monitor is still bigger than a 17" crt I had.

awesome, that's what i wanted to know. savin for the 172w :) i'm pretty sure it'd at least match my 17" crt... the main thing was getting widescreen. it's nice to have those extra sides on the desktop. not a big gamer, but it would really annoy me if i was stuck w/ a stretched out screen.
