I have another cold AGAIN. Did the mistake of blowing my nose (often when I'm very congested if I blow my nose my ears block badly). OMG this sucks. No matter what I try I can't unblock them. Any low frequency noises right now are like a drill to my head, and I can't hear any higher frequencies. It feels like being in some kind of underworld.

Just took 3 cold and sinus advils, hoping they'll help.

FML. F it hard.

It's worse when you blow your nose, your ears block to the point of messing up your balance ... and then you can't unblock them for a minute or two. Really dizzy and motion-sick.

That's almost where I'm at but it lasts for hours for me, it sometimes goes away slightly then comes back. When I try to play with it I totally lose my balance. Blowing while blocking my nose etc... not helping at all, it feels like it wants to but it does not.

Burping actually helps a lot, but I can't exactly do that on demand, I just happened to get a burp from the my pepsi I had earlier, and it totally unblocked them for about a minute. I need something that can make me burp a lot. And yeah yawning helps a bit too. I should try to stay up late so I start yawning a lot.

Just always make sure to blow your nose with your mouth open. It keeps the pressure inside/outside your head equalized which will prevent this from happening

try eating some very crunchy or chewy foods.

that usually helps my blocked ears (narrow Eustachian tubes).

Wow I did not know this. I will try to remember this next time I blow my nose.

I forget where I heard it from but it has been a life saver for me. I used to block my ears all the time when I was sick/suffering allergies. It took some time to build the habit but now I have been block free for years

One word of caution: You will need to be more alert with the tissue. Snot does not have that far between your nose and your open mouth

LOL yeah I was thinking that. I've already had a couple incidents where I blew so hard that two layers of tissue was not enough and it just blasted a shot gun hole through and ended up all over the wall. Quite gross lol.

And yay, I finally unblocked them now! Well it pretty much did on it's own. Think the medication I took might be helping too, my nose seems to be clearing up.

I get my ears clogged a lot, but my doctor says not to blow air into the ears. He told me to instead close my mouth, hold my nose, and swallow hard. That pulls the stuff out of the ears, and he says it can't blow out my eardrums the way blowing air in can.

Also, chew gum. The chewing action can help open the tubes.

I had an ear clogged for about 3 days one time. It was so disorienting and threw off my balance, it was hard to hear someone speak over loud noises because I couldn't lock into the one sound.

I bought just one of the blue bulb syringes, and used it via methods easily Google-able.

Out popped a huge-ass ball of wax, I have no idea how it made it out the hole of my ear.

pinch down on nose with hand, keep mouth closed, give a hard blow of air?
