It has been my experience that people will go out of their way to bang up a really nice car. That's why I only drive beaters these days. :D

A lot of jealous people out there, you better watch extra careful when you drive a nice car, especially on a college campus.

My car has too many door dings to count. It's not a "nice" car though.

I go out of my way to open my door really forcefully many times when I return to my car and see cars parked 1 foot away from it.

I know this man!!! It's so annoying, I never had this problem when I had my 96 camry! BTW, it's only a 98 mercedes, but it's in such pristine condition and they still make the same body style that everyone thinks is 04 some rich kids car. Some people have even asked me how much I got my new mercedes for?!?!?! but now it has 3 new facking dents!!

I'd set my car alarm to be really touchy so when someone does that the alarm goes off and everyone stares at them and see's that they slammed their door against your car, or thinks they're trying to break into it.

Then you should learn to park so that I don't have to roll my window down and climb in through the door.

Don't have that type of an alarm, just have to stock alarm, but that is also another good idea!

It's college campus parking! All the cars only have like 2-3 feet max between them!

We all know that does absolutely nothing. Then when I drive by it'll be a given the alarm will go off.

That only works in places where people pay attention to alarms going off!

Then it sounds like you should get the student body together and convince the university to improve the parking conditions. If you park so that I can't get in, I am going to dent you. If I park so that someone can't get in, I expect a dent.

Yup... the car I had in college ended up with numerous door dings and it was only a Civic. Now I have an Acura and it too has collected several dings... and I go out of my way to make sure I park dead center in my spot and away from beat up cars. But it hasn't helped. To be honest, it seems like it's mostly women in SUVs doing the dings. I went into Barnes and Noble one day and was parked next to a big Yukon. I saw a woman getting out of it as I went inside. When I came out the Yukon was gone and I had a rather large ding in my door. B*tch!

Now it gets worse. Just last week found a BIG dent (like 8 inches across and 1 inch deep) on the front corner of my bumper. I know for a fact it didn't happen while I was driving. But someone would have really had to hit my car hard to make that dent in a parking lot. It's going to cost me about $600 USD for a new bumper :(

WTF? 2-3 feet is plenty to get out of a car. You must have some lardasses or something parking next to you.

Stop squeezing into compact parking spaces then.

The only solution is to park away from the general population.. at least that way there won't be as much in-out traffic. Some people think it's funny to go and do whatever with cars parked far away on purpose, but the fact is... I don't care if it's a brand new Hyundai or a Mercedes... it's still someone's hard-earned car.

A M-B SLK is hardly a large car. Then again, my car doesn't fit into compact spaces a lot of the time.
