Just beat F.E.A.R.

Well I just beat fear and on 1024x768 with medium to high gfx. THE GAME IS DAMN GOOD LOOKING

I just dont understand everything as the last level and ending SUCKED!!!!!!

Anyone care to explain. Also why the hell does this gamer have such steep requirements. Doom and HL2 looked better

it wasn't perfectly optimized

the doom3 engine isn't particularily the best either... runs great though.. but goes for more polygons rather than realistic imagery and textures.
source engine is awesome and perfectly optimized.. when working 😉

but yea, the game was far from optimized, thus why it ran like crap... the shaders weren't really put to good use. it did look nice, if only it ran better or looked a bit nicer given the performance hit.

The story isnt easy to follow, especially if you didnt listen to all of the phone messages and got all the info from the laptops. Even though it isnt easy to follow, if you understand it, it is really good.

The ending is the way that it is because there is most likely going to be a sequel because of how popular they knew this game would be.

It is probably one of if not my favorite game of all time.

i think this is what happened:

company ceo's daughter is telepathic
company believes ability is genetic and wants to make money off it
as soon as possible, girl is made pregnant
one child becomes telepathic commander ( crappy crazy prototype )of army unit ( the guys you fight )
other child is you ( successful prototype )

real time lighting/particles/damage fx. they get into it a little with the directors cut commentary thing. it makes it many more times more stressful. i thought it looked better than doom3/q4. sure that had real time lighting but without real ai or enviromental damage/partical fx it was way less realistic/immersive and so felt very old fashioned after playing fear.

oh, and being able to see your feet/body +body shadowing... definetly makes it more immersive. it just feels like theres something missing when u play other games without it.

what are you talking about. source engine games like hl2 don't have real time dynamic lighting. its precalculated..faked. when u see that swinging light source.. you cannot shoot it around.

sure, but the doom3 engine doesn't bring you into the world any better than the source engine.
i never said it was the best engine, i said it was perfectly optimized, meaning its not a resource hog like F.E.A.R. is... but F.E.A.R. does have some of the best lighting at this point. Doom3's is a joke. Lighitng is far from realistic. Too dark. Eye's never adjust to the darkness, etc etc. At least Source does that much now 🙂

playable, and will look decent
cant run on high settings, but it wont look as bad as it did when i had my dell 9100 with 2,8ghz, ati 9700 64mb and 640mb ddr400 😉

I'd buy fear2 in a hertbeat and I haven't finished 1 yet.
I can say that I enjoyed it even more than hl2, just because of the damage and explosions.
I previewed the game and it spurred me to spend 800 bucks in upgrades just so I could play it in all it's glory.
