The Ram on my geforce 4 ti get alittle toasty after being on awhile or playing a game and I also am planning to overclock. Being to cheap to buy ram sinks I was wondering if it was ok just to spread a dab of artic silver on the ram or does a hs/fan need to be attached for it to work?.

 
u need to have some sort of heatsink attached to get the results.

dab of arctic silver will enhance conductivity but to get that conductivity, heatsink and memory must be attached to each other.
