i just applied online to geeksquad. should i call them up if they don't give me a call within a week? i guess it never hurts to ask if they're open for position.
 
I feel superior to you already, so that probably means you've got the job and I'm picking up on your GeekSquad aura.
 
In for the Triple Cow threat. Btw, Geeksquad = the lose. Just offer people your own help for cheaper or something. It might be a good form of advertising other than that I'd leave it alone. The pay is not worth it (usually).

1) It's a steady job with relatively guaranteed hours. Sometimes you hit dry spells when you do freelance work, and other times you're basically overloaded.

2) He doesn't have to file as an independent contractor, or have to mess with his taxes at all.

 
youa re going to get very few responses that are on topic since you posted anything about Best Buy. They are evil. Not super evil, but kinda a mediocre evil.

eh, i just want a summer job. since i enjoy working on computers, i thought that geeksquad would be a "perfect" summer job for me.

but if you work with geeksquad, you get to go into the women's homes and maybe "educated" their daughters...


and if you want a job you should go in and talk with whoever is incharge of hiring @ the store you applied for.

*edit* you live where the geeksquad started...so you'll probably work with people that actually know what they're doing instead of the typical best buy fare.

And say what? Ask to speak to a manager and infer about the position/ your application? I'm looking for a summer job too, and quite the noob at job hunting.
 
Not so sure about the geek squad.

If you never plan to work in IT, the negative hit to your resume won't matter too much.
Otherwise, try to get an intern job at a real company for the summer.

I used to think that. And then I realized the girls stopped talking to me after I fixed their bloody computers.

Girls were all nice until they got their AIM working to talk to other guys

You've got to tell them that you need to interface with their vagina port before you finish fixing the computer.
 
It never hurts to call back within a week or so, and even again later after that, to try and spark their interest in you.

I say call after a week or so, just to inquire if they'd seen and/or considered your application yet.

Did you apply at a standalone store or a Best Buy? If you have no tangible computer or sales experience, you probably won't get hired. Esp considering most places have already done their summer hiring and large corporations don't like to hire people for short periods of time, except during heavy seasons like the holidays.
