Just another newb 2.4C overclocking question.

I'm planning on getting the 2.4C and i want to bump it up to 3 ghz

Abit IC7 (any MB recommendations? i'm only going to be spending around 125 on the MB)
2x512 sticks of crucial pc 3200 or maybe 2x512 sticks of corsair pc 3200 (need advice)
most likely a radeon 9700 pro (don't want to OC)

i've been reading many articles about overclocking the 2.4C
from what i've read all i have to do is set FSB to 250 and the ratio to 5:4 ?????
do i have to change anything else such as ram settings?

gonna run all of this in a chieftec dragon case with stock fans......2 rear, 1 side, retail 2.4C fan.......is that enough to run it nice and cool???

Seems good to me, I'd go with the Corsair any try for a better CPU heatsink, but the Intel one should be fine. Abit also seems to be a nice stable overclocking board from what I've seen in the forums. One disclaimer, I am an AMD guy, but I do read the 2.xC OC threads for kicks.

Get the Abit IS7 not the IC7, it's much cheaper and performs about as well, and it some cases better.

but you can't use game accelerator with the IS7 and the 5:4 divider

so if you decide to run a fsb of 250 and use the 5:4 divider, on the IS7 you can't use the GA but with the IC7 you will be able to....

also......about the ram i forgot to mention........it's 2x512 crucial VALUE select and 2x512 corsair XMS not the LL

update: i think i'm gonna go with the sapphire radeon 9500 and softmod it to 9700.........this wouldn't conflict with anything would it? .... just another newb question.............

just go for a 9700np instead of softmodding becuz its never always successful
for ocing the p4 set the fsb to250 divider to 5:4 strap to 800 and if you system isnt stable at this...first try to up the vdimm
