Just an FYI: New nForce2 audio drivers at Windowsupdate. User opinions?

They have a release date of May 12th according to Windowsupdate. They also have echo issues, at least with my 8RDA+ - all sounds played have multiple echos, even with no reverb settings enabled. It's like being enclosed in a completely empty stainless steel house. It does this in all speaker modes.
Come on nVidia, get your drivers done right. The unified drivers have problems (SW IDE is messed up with 2.03's) and the "standalone" audio drivers are also messed up!

Edit: Seems some people aren't having problems with these. I know that I had problems with the 2.41 and 2.42 Unified packages - echoing with both, and sometimes it would create its own feedback and get extremely loud, which could be stopped by a reboot, or switching the number of speakers.

These drivers caused no problems for me with my Epox 8RDA+/WinXP rig. My sound was good to begin with but they didn't break anything (which is uncommon lately 😀 ).

Work fine for me.

Some people have said some nForce2 boards are having sound crackle problems but I have built 4 systems all with the NF7-S board and have had no problems.

Maybe this is a Epox issue, as you and another person on this board are having sound issues and both of you have Epox, while I and 3 others I know plus beatle(see above) seem to have no problems.

Well I don't know then.

I say someone should start a thread here and if you are having problems list your full system specs including power supply, case, temps in room, speakers. There has to be some common thing that is causing it, as some people have it and some don't????

This crackling sound issue appears to be common among nForce2 boards according to numerous posts at nForcersHQ.com's forum. I, however, have been lucky w/ 3 of my nforce2 boards as I've had no sound issues at all.
