I'm just about to RMA a faulty graphics card (pretty sure it is) after lots of corruption appearing - should I bother uninstalling the graphics drivers?

Hopefully will get direct replacement, plus I could uninstall in Safe Mode anyway I assume, after installing the new card, so should I bother trying to uninstall the NVidia drivers before I RMA - at the moment I cba to switch my other PC on again as it'll probably lock up quickly with corrptuon anyway, so am I ok to just leave the drivers as they are? I'll be getting hopefully another 7900GS anyway.

It depends on what you plan on doing while you wait for the rma... if you are going to use an old PCI (not an ATI model) card with a driver built into XP then there is no need to remove the Nvidia driver, this is also true if you have another recent Nvidia PCI/-e card you can use.

However if you plan on switching to either an older ATI PCI card or buying an ATI PCI-e card to hold you over, I strongly suggest you remove all traces of the Nvidia drivers using driver cleaner before you remove the card from your system.

Well, I'll likely just use my other old PC while it's being RMA'd, as I have no spare cards, so I guess I'll just leave it for now then.

When I recieve the replacement, even though it's the same model card, would it be good practice to uninstall, then reinstall the graphics driver? Or should I just try it first and see if it's stable or not?

Thanks for replying!!!

Nope... just shut the pc down, pull out the card you'll be sending back & when the new one arrives install it, power up & you should be all set.
