it may be that by being here they've usually escaped, voluntarily, from a worse situation elsewhere, within the last generation or so. not so the case with most black people.

Things need to change in the hands of power in order to enable them to be "kick started" which they are more than able to do by themselves. I think this is an important point. NFS4, is this what you meant by what you said?

I don't know, I was just sitting down eating a pork chop and it came to my head ;)

Well it is the other white meat. ;)

Probably. Do I care? No!

good point. most caucasions just don't care. i don't.

And thats why blacks and other minority can get away by making fun of white people. Make fun of blacks and you probably have a riot at hand. They should just get rid off the term majority and minority and treat everyone the same. The problem then is the illegal one.

the hispanics culture obviously has a lot of spaniard influence , someone mentioned abt the hispanics coming and wiping out the american culture modelled by whites..i've thought about this quite a few times, if you look into history, u see that whereever the spaniards went, they destroyed the existing culture , and enforced their culture in every possible way, like say lifestyle and more importantly the catholic way of christianity. i believe phillipines in asia is the "oddman out" among the asian nations because it doesnt have an identity of its own. This is because the spanish invaded phillipines and almost wiped out their culture. I'm sure most of us know what the spaniards did in south america. i hope no one mis-understands me here, just trying to find a reason for the paranoa some people have against the spanish language etc. i've dated a lot of hispanic girls and have close friends too...whatever i typed is not intented in the remotest possible way to denigrate the hispanic population.:)

"It seems as though blacks and whites have argued and fought back for many years over equality issues and affirmative action and other programs in that manner. But now that blacks are no longer the dominant minority (or at least quickly losing that title), will the focus now be shifted towards Hispanic Americans? I believe that their level of poverty/education/technological access is even lower than blacks and things will need to be "shaken up" I would assume to get them kick started as well."

There is only one thing that will help poor Hispanics....education and time. Proper education that gets them integrated into American society and can speak English fluently. Those Hispanic families that are successful have been in the United States for two, three generations or more. The education system they come from in Mexico causes the majority of them that come over to not have the skills that are needed beyond low-paying manual labor...especially those that come over illegally. It is typically their children or grandchildren that are able to reap the benefits from immigrating to America.

Since the racial barriers to education and employment have been pretty much eliminated in this country (not saying everything is perfect just markedly better), the only thing needed is education.

i can't speak for southern Cali and Texas, but here in Arizona the educational system is horrible. With the large Hispanic population here, it is obvious that those children are already at a disadvantage by not receiving proper education.

But in reality, would any group give themselves a "kick start" without some incentive from another, albeit more socially powerful, ethnic group?

what abt minorities like say jews, chinese, koreans, indians , arabs? i dont think they looked for someone to give them a kickstart, most of them are fairly successful, the jews especially have always thrived in adversity. the probable explanation for this can be the quality of people coming to the us. most of the illegal hispanic immigrants are poor people and blue collar workers, these people dont get any worse than a regular troublemaker in a ghetto or at a trailer park.

How about because most white people think stereo typical jokes about them are hillarious. I find Lilly Whites snivelling about that more annoying than the jokes themselves.

In this short 30 second preview there were multiple times when this movie made fun of white people. No one seems to have any problems with this. My question is, why does no one have a problem with black people making fun of white people, but if even the slightest racist comment comes from a "white" movie (like how everyone thought Jar Jar was a representation of Jamaicans, or the Trade Federation guys were obviously Asian - just comments I heard, not my opinion), everyone get upset? Why? Isn't that sort of a double standard?

I agree with the others in the fact that I really don't care. And also, the handshake verification part of the trailer announcing "Blackness confirmed....you've got soul!" was fvcking hilarious.

Ironically, I have heard some black people complain about the UB movie. Specifically, because they believe that it reinforces the stereotype that white women are sex godesses to black men. This comes from the scenes where UB chases down and beds Denise Richard's character and the resulting scenes where all his black friends get all excited about it and ask him how it was.

Just thought that was interesting :) Personally, I think Aunjanue Ellis, who plays Sistah Girl, is hotter than Denise Richards...and the bonus is, she can actually act!
