Would it be worth it to get an SLI motherboard later and then just add another 6600GT? Or should I just stick to single GPU solutions?

Well I'll be getting a 6600GT and a single GPU motherboard. I was just wondering if it was worth it to buy an extra 6600GT and new mobo w/ new PSU and fans later? Or should I just stick to single GPU's?

No, don't go SLI. 2 6600GT's in SLI is about equal to or worse than a single 6800GT, yet the SLI setup would cost a lot more. SLI isn't worth it. You'd be better off going with a 6600GT now and then upgrading to a better single card solution later.

Oh okay. If that's so...then why did they create SLI in the first place. You would have that it was a dumb invention...

Well the entire purpose of SLI was so that people could SLI 2 6800 Ultras and get the best gaming solution money could buy...

I did exactly what you're planning on doing. I have a 6600GT and an ASUS A8N-SLI deluxe, and L8er on I plan to add another 6600GT.

You NEVER get much back when selling computer components, so it's cheaper to get a 6600GT now and another L8er, rather than getting a 6600GT now and later replacing it with a 6800GT.

And performance of SLI 6600GT's is around the same as a single 6800GT.

I generally don't think SLI is worth it. In the fuure, you can get a card in your price range that probably can perform better than an SLI of 2 cards.
