Just a simple question, I think :)

I have a Linksys router and adapter for my main PC and laptop. I am about to add a another desktop in another room.
Can I run a ethernet cable from my router to that stationary PC? Would I just need a lan card in that PC?
I am pretty sure the other option is to use a USB adapter and keep it wireless, right? I am looking to use wire to make file sharing easier and faster.
Thanks for your help.

If the PC has a NIC, just run a cable and plug it into one of the 4 ports on your router.

I was thinking that, but just wanted to make sure. I will read some of the reviews on Newegg, and get a good card.
ONE MORE QUESTION. Does it matter how long the cable is? Mine would be about 20-25 ft.
Thanks..

you have a few more hundred feet to go before you start running into distance issues...

If its a recent machine it will have an onboard ethernet connection. If not just get a cheap NIC. The realtek 8139 based cards are OK, and cost about £3.00 in the UK. For a 100 Meg ethernet card I would not worry about getting a card from a named brand.
