Just wanted to double check that upgrading from xp to vista on the same pc, I dont need to reinstall the apps, do I?

please reformat that machine and install vista clean. that practice alone will save you at least 10 trips here....

Zig gives good advice!

Although you can upgrade XP to Vista, There are many utilities, including all your security apps, that will not port over correctly.

Bottom line, if time is nothing to you, upgrading is a fun learning project. If you spare time is a scarce comodity, then back everything up and do a clean install.

Excellent advice above.

Clean is the best way. I cannot count the number of upgrades I have seen with what appeared to be MAJOR problems with hardware and software. All it took was a clean installation to Fix the problem.
