Just a quick Borderlands question

Is there always just 1 save game file? It seems to save every time I exit or when I'm near one of those post-thingies, but it always just overwrites the previous save. Being a PC gamer I'm used to have multiple savegames to choose from if I want to go back and do an area or mission differently. There didn't appear to be any quicksave option or anything like that.

yeah. it's one save game per character. you get used to it...

and don't worry about getting stuck or doing something that you wish you hadn't done later on, then affecting the rest of the game. there aren't any issues like that in Borderlands.

Thanks - I did kind of figure out that I prematurely tried to take on a boss before I should have. Its just weird not having different save files. Enjoying the game a lot, albeit a bit later than everyone else.

yeah, Bonehead just outside of the starting town is a bit tougher than he appears, if that is who you are talking about. I think level 8 or 9 is the minimum to take him on, depending on your character.

It is a fun game, and if you haven't gotten them yet, the DLC is absolutely worth it--particularly Knoxx and Claptrap. loads and loads of good content.

Awesome - that's who I meant alright. Took him down last pm with improved weapons and higher level (9 I think).

I bought the GOTY or whatever they had on sale a few weeks back - so all DLC is included I believe. Fun, fun game - really enjoying it!

it is a good game. I hate FPS but I found myself enjoying this one quite a bit. In no time at all, I somehow racked up 200+ hours on this game without knowing it. (that's a lot in one game for me).

Siren + SMG is tons of fun.

There are some good Borderlands threads here, so check those out if you want some suggestions and decent links for info. there is also a thread buried somewhere in console games forum.

One thing I will suggest, is to try and not over-level too much. the game has scaling problems on that first playthrough, so if you do ever quest that you find, you will be over-leveled rather quickly and it will be too easy (esp. with a Siren). doing all of the quests in the badlands is fine. Once you get to Dahl Headlands, you can stick to the main story quests and a few, like crystal harvest quests and such, and stay at normal levels.

I know you want to do everything--I always do--but bear in mind that the game really picks up on second playthrough and then DLC (common recommendation is to not even try the DLC until you have finished your second playthrough, ~level 51)

doing DLC on a first playthrough can make you a bit too godly. but, if that's your thing, more power to ya.

Great advice and its well-taken. I did check some Borderlands threads earlier (about the savegame thing) but I'll look again. Don't want to be God-like so I will not over-level as per your advice. I've got a Sniper character - love sniping and this game does it well.

Zin you got a recommendation for a great siren build? I went through the game as a hunter and it was awesome. My buid was focused on bloodwing and pistols, but I also sniped a lot. Yeah, sniping is pretty awesome in this game.

Quicksilver, High Velocity, Inner Glow, Diva and Mind Games are all great.

I don't think you really need more than 2 or 3 points into Mind games, though. a high ROF SMG = more than enough daze.

I've mostly stuck with typical mercenary builds. rather standard, still tons of fun. The other two that i have played with are firefly and plaguebringer, or whatever that's called. I love fire/toxic weapons.

I found being a sniper was pretty easy in this game. You can kill so many enemies without them even getting a shot at you. And the volcano sniper rifles do insane damage.
