I tend to agree when you say it is the best Microsoft OS yet. It is rock stable and IE is the best web browser at the moment for the PC

I have Win2k duel boot with 98SE. I like it a lot until I try to play games :( Tribes 2 won't work, and a favorite game of mine (Total Annihilation) crashes. And I know a lot of ppl who run TA on Win2k. And my soundcard doesn't work under Win2k either (MX300). And I have no money to get a new one :(

Maybe one day it will work.

wow first time you like an ms product.

so you dont like... Word, Excel, Powerpoint, IE, BackOffice, SQL, Visual Basic, not to mention Motorcross madness 1/2, Age of empires 1/II, Flight simulator, Force Feedback joystick, Force feedback wheel, gamepad pro, and intellimouse explorer.

and those are just the things off the top of my head. whats that, 1% of their products?

i like stuff like added alpha blending etc. to the GUI...the shadowed cursors, etc.

other than that, seems rather similar to win9x, especially if u're still using win2k + FAT32...

needs driver support as good as win9x tho...guess we'll have to wait a year or so...

i have much better speed on 2k than i did on 98..

i lost 5fps in my games.. oh well, the new PRO should make up for that!

2k is awesome i never crash.. EVER (except for when i have I.E. 6 installed!) ;)

Actually, 9x is slower due to its terrible memory mangement. Try using a 9x box intensively for eight hours straight, and then tell me if it's still as fast as when you first booted up. Windows 2000 almost manages that. It's just sad that it takes up nearly 1G of disk space and needs at least 256M to really fly.

Imagine a computer programmer circa 1989 transported to the future and vomitting at the sheer waste of an operating system that demands more system memory than the largest hard drives of his time, and takes up enough disk space to fill a car with 1.2M floppy discs.

Huh? What machine are you using? With a modern PC and modern applications, 2K is far superior to 98 in terms of both stability AND performance.
