CREDIT CARDS = TEH DEVIL!

I have a Sears card, which I put a laptop on...... It is just sickening to pay a payment of $50 and $39 of it goes to interest only.

I know my credit card debt is NOTHING compared to most people, but it sucks to pay money that doesn't "do" anything (interest).

I can't wait till the day I get my first house payment book 🙁

heh, store credit cards are horrible, 24% interest rates and so on...all my cards are 9.99%...

Credit cards stay on your credit history for ten, yes 10 years after you close the account and the credit limit will still count against you after you have closed the account.

Well, you just have to act responsible with it. If you can't, then yes, DON'T get one.

I have had one for a year and a half. Pay the balance in full every month. This way, it isn't a problem 🙂

that's why i don't wanna finance a car... and its taking sooooooooooo damn long to save up for it. 🙁

my friend's parents bought him a g35... $40k loaded... came out to $50k after financing... oooooookkkk... 😕

If you can't control your spending maybe you shouldn't get one. Thats like saying alcohol is evil. I actually like alcohol but if used improperly it can cause problems. I personally love my credit card. Its the most convenient way to pay for things like gas and dining. I get one bill at the end of the month that I can pay electronically. I get some protection too for my purchases being on a credit card. If you can control yourself I strongly recommend getting one.

Care to back that up? I am not disagreeing with you, just want a link to that info.
I closed a fleet account that I never used.
I only use my Amex card and pay it off regularly. If a place doesn't take Amex, I use my debit card of credit card from my bank.

I've never wanted a credit card, except it's the only way to buy stuff online at most places.

that is a pretty niave point of view. Are you going to save up for a house as well so that you don't have to get that pesky mortgage?

Interest is the rent you pay for spending money now that you wouldn't otherwise have until some point in the future. You could save the whole $40k for that new g35 and "save" the $10k of financing (which may or may not be a good rate, depending on the number of years). But then you "lose" having the car during those years when you were saving.

Mortgage and/or car loans make sense for almost all people (as long as you use them properly).

I did a report on this a long time ago. Personally I prefer to carry big chunks of cash around, makes me feel like a pimp 🙂

Actaully i'm 17 and dont have a credit card, but my parents have always taught my sisters and I, if you ever get a credit card, always pay it off in full no matter what.

Why don't you pay off the entire amount or pay off more than $50.00 a month?

I came to the conclusion that being in debt sucks, that's why I'm actually trying to sell my car and pay off my loan.
