just a little heads up on those shipping by the USPS

I normally wouldn't complain, but as of late this is almost becoming the norm for the USPS, my brother and father both worked as postmen so I normally wouldn't complain but this is getting stupidly bad, so it's just a small heads up for those shipping with the USPS

I have a motherboard coming that I really need so it was send priority mail 2-3 day delivery..

expected date of delivery was the 8th

Received April 6, 2011
Expected Delivery Date: April 8, 2011
Class: Priority Mail® 2-3 day delivery

I just got off the phone with them (9th), my package has made it a whole 38 miles, and yet still has to come ½ way across country still to reach me and it's Saturday.

you know what's bad is that package is in Maryland, I don't see that happening and of course on Monday I'll be in the city for doctors so I won't be home to receive it.

if this had been the 2,3,4,5 time I wouldn't of made this post, but it's way beyond that now..

In the city?

Honestly, when you move out to the sticks you really can't rely on quick shipping. Who in the world wants to drive out there?

Also I have never had an issue with Priority Mail.

In years past I never had issues with the USPS yet in the last 6 months they have claimed they have delivered TWO packages that I have never seen.

I've never had a problem with USPS, ever.

Do you feel better having warned us?

I haven't had an issue with USPS and that's almost 50 years of mail and packages.

our mailman is hilarious. He will do whatever it takes to not have to get out of his car. He'll rubber band packages to the mailbox, leave larger packages at the base of the mailbox, sit in the driveway and honk for 20 minutes if he thinks someone is home.

I'm not complaining in the least. I really do think its funny.

Not as good as all of my UPS packages (including signature required ones) being signed for by "Porch".

Its good to live in a nice neighborhood.

sounds like those troublesome jiggaboos .

Not only is your comment ignorant, you are ignorant for thinking that it'd be ok to post that racist crap here.

Never had a problem with any delivery service. Well OK i had a minor issue I had to remind the UPS driver he still had a package on my truck but I had a lot of stuff from a lot of places delivered that day.

Sending packages through USPS is a lot cheaper than FedEx and UPS, but I would never send anything time critical through them.

Next time, pay for INSURANCE. If they have to pay to replace it, they move it faster. Not really, but it sure as hell always seems that way to me!

the insurance is terrible. I shipped a laptop and had it insured; it took 6 months to finally get my money. use UPS or FedEx.

It depends, i've had about 30 packages sent/delivered in the last month, and have had no issues with USPS/FEDEX/UPS. They're roughly on time, if not early.

Once you reach a certain weight, maybe. Where I live, the cost scale is more like this:

USPS>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>UPS>>>>FEDEX

The only time I ship postal service anymore is if I'm shipping internationally, where the postal service whoops the shit out of either UPS or FEDEX, cost-wise. Within the country, their rates have gotten ridiculous. In fact, in some cases, they have UPS or FEDEX truck the package cross-country for them, because they know they're saving money by having it done that way. 🙄

The last two times I had a package delivered by them and wasn't home, they didn't even bother leaving the "Sorry, you weren't home so come pick it up at the post office" notice until the following day. I had some parts I needed this weekend and they were supposed to be delivered on Friday. They weren't, and I didn't get the notice until 2:00 on Saturday, after the post office closed. I was less than amused because now I am going to have to be late to work Monday to go pick the stuff up.

Priority mail is not 2-3 day guaranteed.

exactly. priority mail is 'the package will get there fast or slow, cheap'. in my experience it's usually 2-4 days cross country but i would never assume that for something time critical.

never had a problem with USPS knowing it's not a guaranteed service. 95% of the time my packages arrive by the 3rd day.
