Couldn't find this info at the passport site and finally got in touch with someone about it. The msn passport promotion officially ends December 19. im sure that is subject to change at any time. also individual merchants can back out at any time or refuse to accept the passport discount. i dont see why any company would back out unless it's a hassle. i asked and msn foots the 20% off, it doesnt come out of the etailers pockets. this is sort of in relation to casiotech's post about mercata, i dont know if it will be pulled friday, but mercata can do it without any warning.

Here's a direct link the MSN Passport 20% off.

Rule of thumb is if you find a Hot Deal with an MSN Passport retailer then JUMP ON IT! Don't just think you have forever until December 19th because MSN can and probably will end this promo sooner than expected. Remember the Fuji Finepix 1400 $50 rebate? Even though the rebate form says it expires 01/31/2001, Fuji decided to end the rebate promo early.

techbargains is reporting that the Passport 20% will end this Friday. Don't know where they got it from.

I just got off talking with a MS rep. He said that MS FULLY intends to stay with the deal until Dec. 19th as posted on their page. HOWEVER, certain companies will be pulling out of the promotion. SO...as posted above: hop on the deals while you can. So far it has been killing me financially (and my wife will even more when she sees the CC statement!). Hope this helps.

im sure both MSN and the companies are subsidizing this, maybe 10 and 10, maybe more one way or the other...so thats why some will pull out early

I jumped on a 50 " big screen Toshiba TV for my Brother-in-Law yesterday at 800.com. I have no idea how they can do this and survive. It listed for $1499 which is as cheap a price as he had been able to find locally (although there is a deal for 1 year no payments or interest at that price) I got the 10 % TV discount, 20 % MSN Passport discount and 5 % for using my Citibank credit card for a total of 35 % off. Final Price was only only $974.96 delivered with no sales tax. If the E-Bates rebate comes through too (I used it to order) then it will be another $45 less. WHAT A DEAL !

If MS really were paying the whole 20%, then all the retailers would be signing up. Since they are not, you have to think it's a split contribtion deal.

I'm going on a truly sinful buying spree this week. :)
