Just a heads up for those who want to get a Lian-Li Case, check and double check first.

This is my first lian-li case, I installed about 2~3 lian-li comps for friend, and they are very good cases, however this one/model might be a problem, and a disappointment.

Anyways just doublee check to see if your cd rom bezel fit the case before you put together the system first.

LIAN LI PC-A05 A Silver Aluminum ATX Mid Tower Computer Case
Lian Li CD-Rom Bezel

Rating: Poor(Hard to get in touch with Lian-Li, Had to pay s/h to newegg to exchange it, and on top of that, Newegg can not check/make sure if the new one is gonna be problem free. And Lian-Li did not respond after that.)

Pros: Design, Layout and quality of material is excellent.
Air flow, spacing, wire placement..is all great.
However read below if u plan to use the cd-rom bezel from lian-li.

Cons:Manufacture mistake..Lian-li's own CD Rom bezel can not be installed on this case because of mis-drilled holes on the case, Lian-Li customer support is almost impossible to reach. I end up calling one of the US distributors who contacted Lian-Li for me.

Conclusion: Contacted Lian-li through US Distributor directly, and according to them, early batches of these case have holes drilled wrong.

Lian-li told me to contact Newegg for replacement, however it will be a major headache to replace and ship it, since I have my system setup already. Its a big disappointment as the nice looking Cd-Rom bezel was one of the major reason why I wanted a Lian-li case.

Since Lian-Li already know the problem, a case at this price point with a known problem should be pulled out before reaching the market. Imagine the pain to all those who find out this problem after the whole system is installed. I ended up deciding to re-drill the holes myself. Since I dun want to pay shipping, and newegg can not confirm if the new one would be problem free.

Therefore, you need to remember to double check your case before putting your system together, better yet, don't buy this case for now, and maybe the newer series until the first batch are gone.

I can, but its the same reason why I won't fix something I bought brand new.
also I get what I paid for, and $100+ is alot for a case. Its like a Lexus of the case.

I still see no point to buying an overpriced refrigerator. How many beers can you store in that case anyway? 4 bottles?

It takes like 10 seconds to change out the bezels. What's the big deal?

Because he paid a good amount of funds for a luxury chassis. The least the company could do is have a known issue already troubleshooted before the customer receives it. It's like purchasing a BMW or Lexus new and it has electrical/mechanical issues and telling the owner to fix it himself. Hello?

wait... they said send it back to newegg for replacement--will you have to pay anything to ship it back? Do you still have the box?

to be fair to Lian Li, they told him to send it back for replacement. If you bought a $50,000 car and got it home from the lot only to realize none of the turn signals worked, the dealer would have you bring it in instead of saying "yeah, thats easy, break out your DMM, a screwdriver and about 40 minutes of your time. Thanks for shopping Lexus!" 😛

I don't see anything wrong with what lian li did here, but it does suck that the bezel holes are incorrect on early batches. If the OP has to pay shipping to get a replacement, then yeah, that's unacceptable, and I would expect an RMA or something directly from lian li at no cost to the OP.

and $100+ is alot for a case.

Since when? In this day and age, $100 gets you a decent, well built (usually) case. Don't act like you bought a Cadillac when all you really got was a Malibu. Save yourself some headaches and re-drill the holes yourself and forget about it.

Malibu? maybe u r not sure of which case I purchased...but in this day and age, $100 for a mini tower with no psu is alot.
Maybe its just pocket change for you, but $100 is alot. And I spent it because I liked the Quality and Look of Lian-li....
Qualty:good design, good finishing, good aluminum, easy to work with.
Look: great aluminum look, especially with their own aluminum cd bezel.

Now, reason I posted this is just to inform those who is thinking about getting this case, so you know what you will be getting into.

Talk with Newegg, and I would have to pay s/h for an exchange, so yes I will just redrill the holes myself.

Thanks for all your input and help, but seriously check your cases before putting the computer together, will save you alot of headache

I'm sure Performance-PC's has the part and will get it out to you a lot faster with less headaches.

It's a little bit rash IMO to give a bad rating to one company to an entire company because of one mistake. I would be thankful that a company even admitted a mistake like that. Although having to RMA to Newegg is a little lame, a large number of companies like to return at the place of purchase first, then handle it directly. It's nothing really new.

Mini? Your original post says Mid-Tower and that is what I was going by. Whatever the case (no pun intended) $100 is not a lot of money for a quality case, and smaller size doesn't usually mean less expensive. Lian Li cases are very nice quality and for that you will pay a bit more.

Thanks for the heads up though, everyone that was planning on purchasing this case appreciates it I'm sure.

Ya, I guess it was harsh, so I edited the thread a little.
However with my experience through the past week, I can say I'm not a happy customer.
$100 is not a huge amount, but not pocket change either, and taking apart my PC and pay s/h for return is also unacceptable from my point. I will try to drill the holes myself.

Btw, getting in touch with Lian-li CS is also impossible, I was only able to get in touch with the US distributor who contacted Lian-Li for me, and left with the answer of "Sorry, our first batch have problems, you should exchange with Newegg"

Its also messed up when I called newegg and they said "sorry, there is no way we can see if the replacement will be problem free."

I have been trying to contact Lian-li directly since then with no word from them.
