i just sold 3 pc's to a friends parents of mine about a year ago, for $700. these were nice machines... intel boards, antec power supplies, gskill ram all in nice cases.

and they all worked great of course. i formatted, installed win7 and ran all the updates on all of them. i set everything up beautifully.

well now that its a year later and money is tight, they want to sell them. first, theyre mad they cant get $700 for them (duh), and two of the pc's wont start they say. the one worked fine when i tried it, but when they take it to the pawn shop it wont show anything on the screen (im pretty sure they still dont understand there are multiple inputs on that monitor).

the other wont power on, and the power supply is fine and the motherboard lights light up, so its looking like a cpu problem. i suspect this because when i opened the case all of the power supply wires were laying all tangled up in the fan... and i have an idea why.

all these computers have been beat to shit. the cases look like they took a hammer to them. they were brand new cases, and now they wonder why the pawn shop doesnt want them. and they wonder why they dont work.

they keep trying to get me to fix them, but im about done. ill tell them that one needs a cpu, and pretty much fuck off. ive sold lots of pc's to friends and family, and never had any experience like this. it looks like they just tossed the computers across the room (they are the kind of people that do throw their mice and slam their keyboard when things dont do what they want). idiots.

thanks for letting me vent anandtech.
