just a few questions about installing a sata drive.

first off, does creating a raid array (0 or 1) delete all the data you have on the hard disk?

also, bios can recognize the new hard drive, but its exactly the same model and everything, so they looks identical in the bios and i dont which one is the original and which one is the new one.

do i have to set one as the master and one as the slave even though its a sata drive?
if so i cant figure out how to set one as the master and one as the slave.

this is all assuming that im not setting up a raid array, i was just asking about that out of curiosity.

Only RAID0 does. RAID0 stripes the data between both hard drives. RAID1 is just a copy of the hard drive.

Yes you do. They aren't in the same slot are they? One should say SATA1 and SATA2 or whatever you have them plugged into. Secondly, this information is moot anyways since you're thinking about running RAID. Seriously, any way you put it, you're going to be seeing ONE logical hard drive. Do you really care which hard drive is what?

Master and Slave only apply to PATA I believe. The hard drives I just bought don't even have jumpers because they are straight SATA. But if your HDD has jumpers, just set them both to Master or Cable Select.
