Jury: Marcus Wesson should get death penalty

no one does. the extra trial measures of death penalty cases generally results in costs of over 3 times that of life-in-prison. there also isn't any conclusive evidence that it deters crime. not to mention the fact that over 100 people have been exonerated off of death row. some having spent over 20 years waiting to die for a crime they didn't commit.

is the death of already incarcerated criminals who cannot harm the public worth the price of an innocent life? if it is, than you can support our system of capital punishment. if not, you shouldn't.

Agreed, but do you believe this guy has any chance of being innocent? I'm not saying I agree with the death penalty, just that if anyone deserves it, this fruitcake does.

edit

In other words, if you don't execute this freak, no one should ever again be executed.

I don't think anyone deserves to be put to death.

but he's clearly a danger to society; life in prison seems adequet (sp)

While that is true, that is not nessicarrly a absolute for every prisoner. There isn't any exclusive evidence it deters crime? Yea, what's your point? It's to bring closure to the family knowing this evil man is dead, you can't tell me just because he's in prison he won't hurt anyone. Dead people can't hurt anyone, period. Yea, I am sure there are many people who have been taking of death row and maybe there are many who have died for crimes they didn't commited. While this may be true, this isn't the case with this man.

He deserves to die, and I'd glady put one in his head.

I don't think that I could do it, but if there are people who can, he's the one that deserves it.

For you doubters, read the article.

I don't really believe in the death penalty, for three reasons:

1. two wrongs don't make a right
2. it is not effective as a deterrant
3. it is mostly misapplied along racial lines

But I guess I could live with it as a necessary evil if it was used sparingly, fairly and wisely. And if there ever was a case that should be the exception to my rule...

1. Now if right and wrong could be reduced to pure mathematics and we were multiplying or dividing, we'd be all set! But yeah, basically you're right.

2. That's probably true, but in some isolated cases it may have made a difference. Still...

3. If you (I don't mean you personally) can't do the time, don't do the crime.

Did you know that the greatest killer of blacks in America is by OTHER black people?

Your last paragraph: Word!

I think the greatest benefit to society as a whole is that collectively it feels that it has the power to purify itself of things that it abhores. Makes getting up the next day a little easier.
