I never thought it would happen this soon, btu I just got a letter in the mail requesting that I appear for jury duty in about a month.
I'm currently a student, but I attend classes at night, so I doubt I have a legitimate excuse to get off the hook.

I've heard it isnt that bad if you get an interesting case.

When they ask you why they should pick you, just say that you can tell somebody is guilty just by looking at them.

That's what you get for registering to vote. ;)

Personally, I'd just do it. It's a day off work, paid.

You could try sending them a bill for a month of service at some obscene hourly rate, but it's been done before with little success.

Stop crying and do your duty as a citizen. It is one of the few obligations we have in exchange for all the benefits of being a citizen. You should be eager to give a little back to the system that guarantees your rights and liberties.:disgust:

Realize that you may not even get called.

But if you do happen to attempt getting out of this, do realize that you'll never have any right to complain about any crazy verdict you don't agree with. It's a civic duty -- be thankful our trials aren't decided by Magic 8 Ball or Rock, Paper, Scissors.

Uhh, if you think about it, the people who don't try to get out of jury duty will probably be much more fair in their decisions than people who are forced to do it. So how does having fair people in the jury make a trial's results chance (as in the 8 ball)?

EDIT: Remember to say that you hate all religions;)

Personally, I would like to serve jury duty......seems like fun:)

Smart people like Anandtech'rs(well most anyways :p) need to go, like 90 percent of the people who serve on juries nowadays are dumbasses.

Yeah, as has been said already, stop whining and just do your civic duty. It's not like they're drafting you or anything...
