I'm in my mid 30's and have never served, or even responded for that matter. They have never mailed the summons to my current address - they always send them to my Mom's address, who just returns it stating "not at this address". They finally stopped sending them after about 5 years of this. I also have never registered to vote, which I've heard is related to whether you get any summons or not, I don't know if that is true though.

As said before, some states/counties use voter rolls exclusively, some use property tax rolls, etc. A company I used to work for helped put the lists together for a local county so I know this for certain.

I've been on 3 juries I think and called two other times where I never served. The counties around here do a pretty good job of not wasting everyone's time IMO. My trials have been civil trials, while very boring I don't regret it. The first one was quite humorous, a black subcontractor sued a white contractor (who counter-sued), and the jury was strangely racially divided. After a week of testimony we awarded the subcontractor $42 + interest. I'm sure they both spend well into 5 figures on attorneys.

I've actively wanted to be on the jury 2 out of the 4 times I've been summoned, but each time I'm always let go. Frustrates the hell out of me, because I think it would be fun.
