I'm convinced that showing up makes you more likely to get called again.
I got called for JD my freshman year of college over spring break. showed up, served on a case, and wasted my entire spring break (I actually was almost late going back to school because the case was edging on taking longer than a week, but one of the defendants settled out of court).
got called again 4 years later. skipped it and haven't been called since.
