Jury Duty

Linflas

Lifer
I got the dreaded jury duty notice for the month of July and had to call in every Monday evening to see if I was required to report the following day. This Monday was my last call in and wouldn't you know I got called in. Not only that but I ended up on this gang beating trial..

Cliff notes:
MS-13 (ex member according to him) guy goes into club that has 18-20 18th Street gang bangers inside.
Gang bangers make hand signs at one another and curse each other out.
Bouncer removes MS-13 guy when a knife is displayed.
MS-13 guy runs away and 18 guys run him down and beat and stab him.
Bouncer runs up and maces crowd and MS-13 guy med evaced out.
Our guy gets 5 years for malicious wounding and 1 year for street gang violence.

"The jury will resume its deliberation at 9 a.m. today"

so you convicted him? or are you posting from the jury room? 😕

All done, convicted and sentenced. I think the guy that wrote the story filed it last night before we resumed today.

My [grand] jury duty was 10 business days over the course of a month. Some days we'd be let off early and some days we didn't have to go in at all. It depends on what your regular job is to see whether jury duty is good or not. For someone like me who works at home everyday, "dressing up" and getting ready to go out the door by 745am was hell. Yes, even for 10 days.

I had jury duty in June. Ended up on a second degree murder case. Found him guilty, he got life in prison. Jury duty sucks.
