Yeah, whenever they make movies off of books, when they start to really deviate from the book is usually when it really starts sucking. I can't BELIEVE they made Sphere completely suck on film, though. The book was amazing, but the movie was terrible. So........ there you go.

I recently watched it again because I forgot I had seen it. I figured with Samuel L. Jackson and Dustin Hoffman it would be ok.... 🙁

Oh God, I know. It's much worse if you've read the book 🙁 I have read all of Crichton's novels, and I thought Sphere was the absolute best.

If the book started out good, then I hope some people were fired after the movie was made 😉

IIRC when I read the books many years ago I thought The Lost World was excellent. I don't even remember a 3rd book though.

I didn't read the original JP, but I too read The Lost World and liked it a lot

I'm not much of a book guy anymore. AT is about as heavy as my recreational reading gets 😱

It's going to bank on the success of the franchise and the fact that its hard to not make money when you put life-like dinosaurs onto the silver screen.

Granted, it'll probably end up being a terrible movie, but hey - Batman went downhill from 1-4, and then we got a whole do-over with Batman Begins, easily the best one yet and one of the best comics-to-movies ever. I certainly wouldn't mind a remake of the original now that CG has really evolved to the point where it can do true justice to the dinosaurs and perhaps we could get some of the more fantastic scenes found in the book that never made it to the movie.

But if they could somehow conjure up a decent plot - whether it fit as an actual sequel or not - would be warmly welcomed as well. Heck, I wouldn't mind a complete break from "Jurassic Park", something else involving dinosaurs with a good story to it could be cool - a Turok movie or something I dunno.

The parts where they actually had some physical models in the original movie looked the best 😛

They had better looking stuff in 1986 in Aliens than they had in the last JP movie 😉

Oh I was immediately disappointed when I saw them working underwater with Maxabeams. Any self respecting flashlight geek knows these (water proof Maxabeams) don't exist. 😉
