I'll probably go see it. Been awhile since we've been to the theater for this type of film so should be fun regardless.

The only problem is that if this is good and does well, we'll all of a sudden have a Jupiter Ascending Reloaded. :p

EDIT:

Part of me says that I should consider giving it a shot. I'm probably one of the few people that actually liked the Speed Racer movie. Yeah... it had plenty of problems (the biggest being the movie's inability to choose which audience it wants to target), but I thought it was fun overall.

Yeah I've been meaning to re-watch Speed Racer. I think I was completely not preapred for what it ended up being, so I hated it, but I've read/heard many compelling cases for it since.

In fact I think I will buy the Blu-ray right now! :D

You're so cool.

I find it so amusing people even bother to torrent with streaming services so cheap. I work with a guy who still does this. He torrents movies I get on Netflix for 8 bucks a month or Amazon Prime. Then spends hours or days a month cleaning his machines from the viruses he gets. Wise use of resources.

It's either going to be this or Spongebob this weekend. Chances are I'll go see Spongebob and wait for JA as a rental.

I'll give the Wachowski bro... Er siblings some credit. All of their movies have been visually interesting and not standard Hollywood/Bayformer explosion fests.

(Note I said give them credit, not that I was sure it would be good) ;)

Its my reference Blue ray. When I want to show off my home theater I throw that on. Visually stunning film and it grows on you after a while. I watched it again with the kids and the five year olds loved the racing.

Well, I can tell you that the one thing the movie does well is present a grand, colorful spectacle, and the Blu-ray is really good at showing that. I mentioned it inline, but the biggest problem that I have with the movie is that it doesn't know who its audience is. The scenes with Spritle and Chim-chim (youngest son and the monkey) are usually grating to anyone who has gone through puberty, but the movie has some more serious tones to it as well. Ultimately, it tries to be a giant, live action cartoon (especially apparent if you focus on the fight scenes), which probably ends up hurting it more than helping it.

The part that made me like the movie was...
during the last race when his car is disabled. They've got the good, tense music playing in the background, and you're sitting there watching him fail to restart the car while everyone passes him. All of his family and friends are super tense wondering whether he'll be able to get going again. All of a sudden, *vrooom* he gets the car started and gets back into the race. You can't help but cheer a bit!

:hmm: Now I feel like watching the movie again. :p

Hmm .. I've never seen it. Sounds like a BR that I need to pick up.

Agreed. Even if I do not like everything they do, at least they are doing some interesting things.

Yeah I've heard a lot of people use this as their reference disc.

Yeah I'm not the biggest cartoon guy, so maybe that is another reason it turned me off a bit. It was ages ago that I watched it though, so it's definitely time for another go.

Trailers make it seem to be a visual fun watch, can't really say much about point/plot though.

Was hoping this would be good. Reviews look pretty bad, but I'm still not decided on spending on it.

In the beginning, I was sure I'd see it in theatres. I mean Kunis, Bean, Tatum and in a space opera? How could it miss?

But since then, the trailers have gotten me a bit worried so I'll see how the reviews are before deciding to see it or wait for rentals.

He's either doing it wrong or it's the same virus laying low and duplicating itself after he runs a sweep.

Shouldn't the sequel to "Mercury Rising" be called "Venus Climbing?"

Followed of course by "Mars Escalating"

THEN you can have Jupiter Ascending.
