Junkyard Wars rigged?

I'm having doubts that such things can be found in a junkyard. The odds of finding a car with an engine that starts, and 2 golf carts are fairly low.

But then I never been in a UK dump, so I wouldn't know. Anyone else think its rigged?

when they found 1000 ft of some kind of metal on a role I had my doubts =)

It's a junkyard made for the show. Not like they drove around and found one and filmed.

If I'm wrong I want to know where these junkyards are. I'd love to take some engines and make a vehicle and drive them off a cliff or something. Well I wouldn't be in it of course.

Of course it is. They will have tons of junk and hide the actuall good parts required to build whatever they are building. If it needs an engine they will place several working engines. If they arent there they have no show cause nothing will get built. It's what they turn all that junk into is what makes the show.

The way I see it, there is no way the show isn't rigged. Even if one of the teams managed to find all the parts necessary to build the day's particular contraption, what are the chances of the other team finding similar parts? If it wasn't rigged, teams would frequently be unable to come up with anything. That said, I still like the show.

exactly, stuff is placed into the junkyard which can be potentialy useful..usualy they prolly rig the engines with a simple little problem...even if it is rigged the show it cool..

I read an article by the guy who was on the episode with the air cannon and catapult. (he was on the catapult team) as I recall he said that:
1. Plans are outlined before hand and any needed parts that aren't in the junkyard are planted.
2. There is actually 1 day in between the building and the competition, when engineers evaluate the items for safety and operability. Sometimes even rebuilding things from scratch.
3. The whole time limit thing isn't quite accurate since they often stop and redo things for the camera etc.

Just sneak into their junkyard the night before filming...

You mean they don't have rocket motors laying all over the place in junkyards?
