Jumpy video with PVR running

I've been trying a number of different PVR packages recently (Beyond, Sage, MediaPortal, etc.). I noticed that with BeyondTV with 3D acceleration turned on, and with MediaPortal all of the time, any other animations that perform while the TV is running (like something as simple as opening the Start menu) is extremely jumpy and choppy, and makes the TV choppy, as well. It doesn't seem like this can be fixed in MediaPortal. In Beyond, it can be fixed by turning off hardware acceleration and putting it back to overlay, not something I really want to do. I have a 256 MB X800 XL card so there's no way my card isn't powerful enough or something like that.

Anyone else experience this?

Overlay and DX9 modes work fine in Sage, but the DX9 mode can cause screen tearing. I have not tried the others.

Bump.

Same issue with Sage, as well. When I put playback to Advanced, level 4, everything gets choppy when I open the Start menu or do anything else like that.
