Jumper Free or Manual?

Hi, I've got a Tbird 900mhz on an ASUS A7v133 mobo, set to jumperfree...

Would it change something if I'd set my mobo manually?

yeah, you'll get 1) less options, and 2) to test your manual dexterity.

fsb options is where the big deficiency is. jumpered you only get 100, 103, 105, 110, and 133 options whereas with jumperfree you have 1MHz steps up to 166.

you also get to open your case and dig around with those tiny jumper caps! why bother?

jumperfree is the way to go, if available

The only real advantage with doing manual settings on the motherboard is that they stay locked in place. If the BIOS is flashed or resetted, or if the CMOS battery dies, you still don't have to go back and change those.

BUT......then again it's not a huge deal to take 10 seconds and reset all of the values in your BIOS. It's a hell of a lot faster than opening up your case and messing around with jumper shunts.

Ok.. hmm..
I was planning to overclock.. as soon as I go buy an ORB for my cpu.. and some other fans..

I must say I'm totally noob to this.. So.. Can I overclock in jumperfree mode?.. I donnno .. somewhere in the BIOS

The only thing I have set to manual on my A7V133 is the core voltage. Without specifying the core voltage I could never post above 138 MHz. I set the core voltage manually to spec, & suddenly it worked beautifully up to ~145 MHz. I still leave the FSB set in the BIOS, it's a lot easier & there are a hell of a lot more options.

And yes, you can overclock in jumper free mode. Core voltage, multiplier, and FSB are all adjustable via the softmenu. Just be sure you unlock your CPU, & you'll probably be fine.

What are those MHZ your talking about? FSB?... I have no knowledge in CPU settings.. absolutly nothing
