There are a lot of companies that make and sell USB keys so take your pick. Jumpdrive is just one of many brands.

Very, very handy product if you have need for one. I constantly need to swap My Documents files between three different computers, and a Jump Drive is an ideal way to do it.

I have 4 and from what I can see, there are no risks involved. Probably one of if not the best purchases I ever made. I have a 512, 2 128's, and a 64 meg and all work perfectly. I use them to transport stuff from work to class to home, etc. Would highly recommend them to anyone wanting highly compact, transportable storage. I will never go back to Zip drives again.

Actually, it is more like a large, portable floppy disk...

I use a similar DIK (disk-on-key) to move around information between computers, and it saves me the hassle of e-mailing or FTPing files between school and home.

After owning 1, I now have 2 (128 and now a 512) they PWN Floppy's by a mile and are much better to write a few big files to then dealing with a burning program


Here is a good read on them.

Just buy a cheap 128 or even a 64 meg one and put it on your keychain, if you share any files between you and friends just 1 time you will know it's worth it.

Ditto , I love mine also.. I have three 256, 128, 32.

i have the 256 secure jumpdrive and it's great, i'm never going back to floppy, zip, or cdr/rw. there are a few negatives to jump drives, although the

1) if you use them in school, you'd better make sure that all your computer labs are running winXP, otherwise you're gonna have to d/l drivers
2) some computers don't have a USB connection in the front of the computer - reaching out back can be a pain
3) depending on the size of the USB flash drive, you may not be able to fully insert it into the USB slot of the computer - some of the front USB slots on dells are patrticularly "shallow" due to the fact that they're seated behind the enclosure

theNEOone, I've seen several new usb drives coming with a short (foot or two) cable that helps get around funky angled USB slots. I'm sure you could purchase these and use them on drives that didn't come with them.

Question for you guys that own them - do they show up under "My Computer" as another drive (Ex: Removable Drive E

I would like to deploy these out to some of my locations and set up a batch file that they can click on to easily copy data over to the drive.

i own one of those cables, it's just a nuissance sometimes having to carry around the cable, but it isn't such a big deal. as for your question, yes the flash drives show up as another drive.

Isn't it supposed to catapult your starship into hyperspace using wormholes or something like that? Never used one myself, since my starship has an onboard hyperdrive unit.

I have only had experience using them in 2000 and XP and yes, they show up as a removable drive in My Computer. I would assume the same for 98 and NT, but I don't have any 98 or NT systems to test it on. As far as drivers, XP and 2000 automatically install them, 98 and NT require them to be installed (according to the instructions)
