Hi Guys,

I'm not sure if this belongs in "off topic" (if so, please move, mods). In my books it's hot, though.

Although I don't post much, this HOT DEALS forum on Anandtech has become part of my life. But I find it hard to keep up with so many topics, especially since the list of threads keeps getting jumbled with each bump.

I've found a way to keep on top of the deals I'm really interested in:

There's this guy, Dan, who scours Anandtech and several other sites for NEW deals each hour, throws them all into an email, and sends it out to all the subscribers. This way, you get to see what's NEW in each forum, and you go directly to that thread, and participate from there. No more wasting time trying to find the threads you HAVEN'T already looked at, looking for the really juicy stuff.

To subscribe to Dan's Deals, send an email to:

Subscribe: dansdeals-subscribe@yahoogroups.com
Unsubscribe: dansdeals-unsubscribe@yahoogroups.com
List owner: dansdeals-owner@yahoogroups.com

More info: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/dansdeals/

Hope this helps some of you save time.
All the best,
Crusty

I find Dans deals to be awesome .. though as I recall the process is automated by some software he wrote - nobody is sitting at a computer culling the deals for his email.

I view it as absolutely appropriate for the AT forums, and it may well qualify as a hot deal (an email service ffor free that advises you of deals). I think it is wrong to say it doesn't belong on AT at all . . maybe some people don't belong here, but posts about deals surely do.

Pray tell, why would this thread not be appropriate for the Anandtech forum system?

Oh yeah, I forgot to say, once you subscribe, there are several options:

15 emails a day (find the hottest stuff the HOUR it's posted)
No emails at all (check the deals at the Yahoo site whenever you feel like it)
1 grand summary email at the end of the day.

Ciao,
Crusty

You can also set your settings to sort the topics in order of when the topic was started, not the last reply, that way you get new topics at the top, not new replies.

This doesn't belong in this forum, nor in the Anandtech forums at all.

get bent, ferengi

where's the deal?

The deal is a free service that e-mails you a updates on hotdeals from all over the web....it's FREE, and USEFUL... how is that NOT a hot deal?

Just think if there were less topics like this it wouldn't be as hard to keep up.

F4twallet has the same thing, where hot deal forum posts with high traffic are added to a daily email update so you're never too far behind on the deals. =) Just so you know there are other options as well ... .

Oh, and another thing:

When I signed up, it took about a day or so before the emails started rolling in. Well worth the wait though!

Hey, good post. Wonder if some of these guys ever heard the old saying "time is money". Anything that will save time is as hot a deal as a money saver.

Hmmm. The only moron I've seen in this thread is the person that insults other members for stating their opinion. (oops, I guess that's me too. :) )
As to whether it belongs here, I can't say because I've never seen/used the service. It would depend on a couple of things. First, do you get Ads and/or junk mail from subscribing? Second, I would say it depends on if the intent of the post is really to help people save time OR if Crusty is just an alias for Dan, or some other individual with a stake in Dansdeals.

$.02,
D.
