A friend of mine bought a PQI 128mb USB jump drive to use with his Dell 1Ghz Laptop (not sure what model #) - Win2000 OS. The jump drive works fine when the laptop is in the docking station, but when it's out of the docking station it starts to load it but then gives an error message about not recognizing the new hardware - install drivers. Why would anything be different when the laptop is undocked? His digital camera works fine in the USB slot when the laptop is undocked.

Could be that the USB drive does not supply enough power for the Drive to work when its running off of the battery. This happens a lot with higher power devices, such as printers, but its possible the same is occuring here.

Dunno if it's a power issue - he tried plugging the undocked laptop into the power brick and it still wouldn't work.
