Hi!

I'm setting up a network for a video production company and I need to know if I can enable jumbo frames for the machines that support gigabit ethernet.

I'm also using a Buffalo Terabyte NAS, so I wanted to know if I can enable jumbo frames in it too.

Thanks.

If the same computers use the TCP/IP for Internet connection etc. you might have a mess.

The TCP/IP MTU value of Jumbo frame is 9000.

DSL 1492 Cable 1500.

In any case Jumbo frames setting might depend on the whole Network setting and the hardware.

Regardless of Jumbo Frames settings, just using Giga NICs in computers would yield faster Network traffic but would not really take advantage of the Giga potential

Some basics here: Peer to Peer Giga Networks
