Favorite pastimes for the 4th of July include grilling out, spending time with the family, and setting off a few fireworks when it gets dark. But not for the park-goers of Lakewood, Ohio.

This posted sign, which has been making the rounds on the internet and comes to us from YoungCons, declares that 4th of July has one central theme: no fun allowed.

Without rules,in any crowd there will be some who abuse the priveleges of a free society and make themselves a nuisance. Probably these rules reflect instances in the past and this is an attempt to correct so all can "enjoy?"

Looks like charcoal grills are allowed. Hell, I bet they are even provided like at many parks (anchored in the ground). Public parks often have no alcohol rules, which is the rule there all year (not just July 4th) according to the sign.

I see people blatantly ignoring the no alcohol rule in public parks all the time. I recall reporting on to an officer I bumped into in La Mesa, CA and he did nothing. This was over 20 years ago and I was only a kid. I did it because the drinkers were harassing me about not having a helmet on the bike I was riding.

Soo, what if I showed up maybe 20 feet from the park, took my rc car, attatched some sparklers to it, and run it around the park? They never mentioned not putting donuts in the grass either.

They have built in grills at the local park near me, but they always looked so disgusting and covered with thick black grime that I couldn't imagine anyone wanting to eat off of them.

It's sterile. To keep it from flavoring your food you are supposed to line it with aluminum foil and cut slits. Easy peasy.
