I have a theory that I developed on my own, though others may have also thought of this.

I completely believe that we went to the moon and landed / came back, hell we certainly left enough crap there : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/L...al_objects_on_the_Moon

However, I do think it's entirely possible that the television footage may have been deliberately staged, not to pretend that we were there when we weren't, but rather to ensure 100% that we didn't embarrass ourselves to the world if something went wrong. This was the height of the space race, and we had been badly embarrassed many times by either being a step behind the USSR, or having horrible accidents like Apollo 1. We were also in the middle of a devastating and demoralizing war in Vietnam that was beginning to cause problems at home.

It always amazes me that people assume the same government that couldn't keep nuclear secrets from being stolen could organize the massive coverup something like faking a moon landing on TV would require and keep any concrete evidence of it from leaking out for 40 years.

I've been in the vault in Houston that has all (well, most) of the moon rocks. If they're fake, they're certainly going to a lot of trouble.

Note that not only would a ton of people who worked on the Apollo program have to be lying, but also many, many scientists at NASA and elsewhere who have studied the moon rocks since then.

Or perhaps the scientists aren't lying, they just failed to notice after decades of research that the rocks are fake and actually came from President Johnson's backyard or whatever.

I was 15 when Neil Armstrong first set foot on the moon. I was at my step-father's aunt & uncle's house in Kankakee, Illinois...and watched it on their B&W television.

DID it really happen? I suppose it COULD have been faked...but IMO, it was real.

Awesome! And I agree. Not only are they sad failures as human beings, but every one of their arguments has been debunked several times over by the world's scientists. A lot of their arguments are obviously wrong even to me, and I'm just an amateur astronomer who knows a little bit about space as a hobby.
