Sherwood - A Judge has ordered Jason Clearman of Sherwood dog's vocal cords be removed to stop the barking that is allegedly disrupting his neighbor. This story may be hard for animal lovers to hear. As a solution to barking, rather than a bark collar, Judge Butch Hale has ordered three dogs to have their vocal cords removed.

(Jason Clearman, Sherwood)
"He's ordering our dogs to have their vocal chords cut out of their throat."

Jason Clearman has lived in Sherwood for a little over six months. He says his troubles began with his neighbor who complained the indoor dogs made too much noise when left outside.

(Clearman)
"We've talked to our other neighbors and none of them seem to have a problem.

After a court battle the decision to have the cords removed by March 31 was handed down.

(Clearman)
"My stomach started churning to be honest with ya. To me it's inhumane for that procedure. There are other things you can do other than cutting the vocal chords out."

Channel Seven?s Michelle Rupp spoke with Judge Hale, who cannot comment on this case. As for the neighbors involved, Channel Seven's calls were not returned.

Clearman says he'd rather give the dogs away than have the procedure.

Bark collar would have definetely been a better idea.

Or a shock collar on the owner...hehehe

Well, no one likes to listen to a barking dog all night but this is a pretty stupid solution. Aren't there bark collars or muzzles or something?

I think that judge should have himself removed to prevent him from giving such an asinine sentence in the future.

If a bark collar can't be used/doesn't work then I would expect that some sound in the neighbourhood is acceptable, but if the dogs are loud as hell and he's not willing to do anything about it, then yes they should be removed, or just shoot the dogs. The last thing I need at 2am is to hear some cold stupid freaking canine barking his dumb ass off, keeping me awake.

The problem is not with the dogs here, it's with the owner of the dogs. Persecute/prosecute the appropriate party.

Why wouldn't a bark collar be effective in this case? I don't see why one could be used. The collar could be used on the dogs when they go outside, and taken off when they come inside.

The judge was just being ridiculous and trying to make headlines...which he did

that's probably not the complete story...I know I F'ing hate it when a neighbor leaves a dog outside and the thing won't shut up...that's just being incredibly irresponsible...if you're going to be a pain in the rear to your neighbors you shouldn't have pets in the first place.

As mentioned, probably not the full story. I HIGHLY doubt that the owner had a complaint against him and then it immediately escalated to vocal cord removal.

I'd appeal and order the judges hand cut off so he can't pound a gavel anymore
