The Justice Department also appears to have asked Vance to respond to Manafort's lawyers' letter about double jeopardy.

I'm unaware of any time in US history where the USDOJ has intervened in a state prosecution of a felon the federal DOJ just got through convicting itself. This is astoundingly, astoundingly corrupt.

It seems to me the current thinking on the Repub side is with Trump owning the core base of the party and getting away with all manner of malfeasance because of it, his example just sort'a lends itself to be mimicked by any and all within his crime family. Now that Trump has circumvented the impartiality of the DOJ by installing his hand puppet Barr, there is no limit to what Trump and his cronies are capable of and willing to do in order to shield themselves from the rule of law.

This seems petty as hell to put a non-violent offender into a prison for murderers. Manafort is a real piece of **** but he's not someone I'd be worried about shanking someone in the shower, so he doesn't deserve to be lumped into a prison for violent offenders. Also four years of solitary is cruel and unusual punishment for tax and bank fraud.

Rikers is a jail not a prison, the only murderers there would be those awaiting trial. Manafort is awaiting trial so it seems appropriate to hold him there.
